NEW BOOK

        
  A Reunion Committee member
        will be offering for sale a new book entitled "The
        Air Defense of Iceland and the History of the 934th Aircraft
        Control and Warning Squadron." 

	This book includes the history of the air
        defense system employed in Iceland beginning with the
        British efforts in 1940 through the construction and
        operation of H-4 at Mt. Straumnes. 

        
	The book was written by
        Fridthor Eydal who as a child lived at Latrar for the
        entire time of the H-4 operation, and is presently the
        Assistant Deputy for Public Affairs of the Iceland
        Defense Force. 

	The book was published in the Isafjordur
        Historical Journal in 1999. Although written originally
        in the Icelandic language, Fridthor recently translated
        the book and it has been transcribed by an H-4 alumnus,
        John Broughton. 

	The price of the book has yet to be
        determined, however, it is anticipated that it will not
        exceed $15.00, as a spiral binding will be used. It also
        contains a great many pictures both in the book itself
        and in the appendix, along with articles written by
        others concerned with the subject. 

	We would like to get some
        idea as to the number of copies to print, so if you would
