The last Lockheed EC-121T to leave Keflavik makes its last take-off from Iceland on runway 02 on October 4, 1978. It was adorned with the BLACK KNIGHTS markings on the fin and the letters TWA on its left fuselage.

Lockheed EC-121T, 50122 leaves Keflavik for the lasttime on 10-04-78. This marked the end of the long stint on duty for various marks of the Super Constellation Early Warning Aircraft from NAS Keflavik that started with WV-2 on Barrier Atlantic patrols in the 50's and 60's. A Martin EB-57E Canberra from the 17TH DSES of the VERMONT ANG Green Mountain Boys landing on runway 02 on 03-13-79. It was working with the 57TH FIS at the time in the role of 'TARGET'.

008 - A Convair F-106A

The Convair F-106A Delta Dart served as an augmentation force for a few weeks in 1978 when the 57TH FIS was converting to the F-4E's. Four aircraft from the 87TH FIS were stationed at Keflavik then. Here is one of them making a low approach to runway 02 on May 1, 1978.

009 - A Douglas C-118B

The Douglas C-118C was the station aircraft for NAS Keflavik for a long time. At least four different aircraft served in this role before being replaced by the current Lockheed UP-3A Orion. Here 131592 is taking off from runway 29 on June 6, 1979.

A KC-97L of the Wisconsin Air National Guard statrting its take off run on runway 02 on June 30, 1977. The KC-97 Tankers never operated from Keflavik but often made stopovers there.
