Past and Future 603rd A.C. & W. Reunion Information
Future Reunions
In 2007, our Reunion Group will be attending an entirely different type of venue…a cruise aboard the Norwegian Ship: ”Spirit” for our 18th Annual Reunion. Tentative dates are September 9 through 15. Ports of call include: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bar Harbor, Maine, Boston, Mass, Martha’s Vineyard and arrive back to our original Port of New York. Additional details, reasonable cost information and brochures will be provided through the “Logroller” newsletter or, if you wish, send an e-mail to our host Arne Soderlund at: Soderlund@verizon.net.
Past Reunions
Las Vegas, Nevada, September 2006. Over eighty Logrollers and wives attended this unique “City of Lights” for our 17th Annual 603rd AC&W Reunion. Host Pat Malfara arranged for 603rd attendees to stay on “The Strip” at the New Frontier Hotel. Fabulous atmosphere, gambling, and visits to shows at wondrous casinos added to the excitement. Side trips included a cruise on Lake Meade with an up-close look at Hoover Dam and a personal guided tour of the atomic bomb development at the Atomic Museum.
York, PA, August 29/September 3, 2005. A return to this historical Revolutionary and Civil War City in South-Central Pennsylvania. A day in Lancaster County when Logrollers experienced the plain-living lifestyle of Amish country; followed by a day of contrast visiting the bloody turning point of the American Civil War, touring the battlefields of Gettysburg and a third day history lesson during a walking tour of downtown York where the American Continental Congress met for nine months when the British threatened Philadelphia during the Revolutionary War.
Portland, Maine, September 2004. An outstanding Reunion in the Pine Tree State. Venues included seasides with ships and lighthouses. Menus offered "lobstah" and "Chowdah." Shopping was exceptional and the weather was Chamber of Commerce perfect.
Columbus, OH, September, 2003 - Logrollers were invited to enjoy the hostility of the "Buckeye" State in
2003. A taste of our Air Force service days in Germany was provided at
the inviting "German Village" section of this capitol city of Ohio. A
reunion highlight was the trip to Dayton to see the U.S. Air Force
Wright-Paterson Museum.
Myrtle Beach, SC, September 2002 - Our sqadron returned to the east coast and the site of our
largest reunion ever. Smiling Logrollers again enjoyed their return to this "fun in
the sun" resort location.
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, September 2001 - A visit to this metropolis in
the north central area of the United States. St. Paul is the capitol of
this state of 10,000 lakes, the University of Minnesota, Mall of America,
MMM and the Metrodome.
St. Louis, MO, September 2000 - The gateway to the west on the mighty
Mississippi River. Home of the tallest monument ( Gateway Arch ) in the
country, Budweiser Brewery and Clydesdale Horse Team, the Zoo, Grant's
Farm and the Union Station.
Mystic, Connecticut, September, 1999 - Back to the Atlantic Coast and the
historic sites of New England. Sights included the submarine yards at Groten, Newport, Rhode Island, and Historic Mystic Seaport for an authentic clambake.
Seattle, Washington, September, 1998 - Our first West Coast
reunion was a very exciting location. The Home of Boeing aircraft, Mount Ranier, Starbucks and Frasier. Over 100 in attendance.
York, Pennsylvania, August, 1997 - Geographically, York is an ideal location for holding
our 1997 reunion. Side trips included Gettysburg, Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry
along with other sites of interest.
Laughlin, Nevada, September 1996 - The casinos, beautiful hotels, very reasonable
prices, Grand Canyon, Hover Dam and Las Vegas combined to entice Logrollers for this
highlight reunion. Over 200 attended.
Nashville, Tennessee, August 1995 - Country music USA proved to be a natural high for
Logrollers at this reunion. Over 130 enjoyed this special experience.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, September 1994 - This East Coast golf and sun and
theater location was shown to have a special appeal to Logrollers. 200 people attended this
reunion.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, September 1993 - This location proved once and for all that
Logrollers could not wait two years between reunions. Our next "formal" reunion was
voted to be held at Myrtle Beach in 1994 - but again, the guys couldn't wait! So Neal
Richardson and his buddies created an ad-hoc committee and organized a reunion in
Gatlinburg. 125 was the total attendance.
San Antonio, Texas, September 1992 - This reunion took most Logrollers back in
memory to the site of their basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. Total attendance to
Selma, Alabama, September 1991 - this was intended to be a "fill-in" reunion between
Colorado Springs and the next projected reunion at San Antonio in 1992. Some guys
couldn't wait that long so Joe Either sponsored this "mini" reunion in his home town.
revisit southern Texas, where it all began for most - was 140.
Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 1990 - Our first husband/wife reunion with over
150 people attending. The Squadron toured the Air Force Academy, enjoyed the
atmosphere of the Rocky mountains and experienced our first, full-fledged reunion.
Roaring River, Missouri, September 1989 - A very special reunion because it was the
first. Nineteen visionary Logrollers started what has now become a reunion organization
of over 625 Active 603rd Airmen.
